L’histoire d'ESG commence à la fin des années 70. Le groupe, originaire du Bronx, est initialement composé de quatre sœurs, Renee, Valerie, Deborah et Marie Scroggins, et d’un ami, Tito Libran (le line up évoluera au fil de leur carrière). A la base, les filles Scroggins se mettent à la musique après que leur mère ne leur achète des instruments, afin qu'elles se tiennent à carreau. The Feminine Complex est un groupe dans la pure tradition 60s à la destinée éclair. Originaire de Nashville, dans l'état du Tennessee, les gazelles se sont lancées dans la musique alors qu'elles n'étaient encore qu'au lycée. Malheureusement, elles ne sortent qu'un seul et unique album, Livin' Love, en 1969. La raison du split? La rentrée des classes, la même année. Comme quoi, les carrières, parfois, ça tient vraiment à rien. L'album à écouter ici en intégralité, parce que ce serait con de passer à côté :

We were quite surprised and slightly disbelieving when we heard Morrissey had become a fan of The Primitives in 1987. He’d seen us play live by accident when he went to see James at a college gig in London and we were the support band. Afterwards, he said something about us causing his sporran to ignite and demanded all our records be delivered to him without hesitation.
