ESG

NICOLE PANTER ET LORNA DOOM : THE GERMS ERA

Imagine the exhilaration of knowing that you are part of something that is completely and utterly new and different. Imagine that all your life you have felt cut off from the rest of humanity at the most elementary level —you do not communicate well with others. Imagine feeling so lonely and twisted that at times you have really, really tried to kill yourself , even though you were just a kid. Imagine that the people that were supposed to love you, your family, have continually and deliberately brutalized and betrayed you in ways... [Lire la suite]

THE FEMININE COMPLEX

HEART - CRAZY ON YOU (LIVE 1977)

It was darn nigh impossible for women in rock in the '70s. There wasn't a mold if you were a woman and you were in the entertainment in the '70s. You were probably a disco diva or a folk singer, or simply ornamental. Radio would play only one woman per hour.Ann Wilson

EXENE CERVENKA

Well, if you go outside with hair like this and this lipstick on; if you were wearing a polyester pantsuit you would cause a disruption in this town. That’s what people don’t realize about Los Angeles. People in New York and London, like the people who reviewed our record in London, say, “What to they have to be desperate about?” [Referring to X’s “We’re desperate]…Every time I leave the house everyone makes fun of me, gives me a hard time – people on the bus, all these kids going to school, all these people in Beverly Hills. And they... [Lire la suite]

THE PRIMITIVES - CRASH

We were quite surprised and slightly disbelieving when we heard Morrissey had become a fan of The Primitives in 1987. He’d seen us play live by accident when he went to see James at a college gig in London and we were the support band. Afterwards, he said something about us causing his sporran to ignite and demanded all our records be delivered to him without hesitation. He was also provided with a Primitives “Stop Killing Me” T-shirt, which he was hardly seen out of during the final months of the Smiths. Somehow or other, he ended up... [Lire la suite]

TINA WEYMOUTH

I became the captain of the cheerleaders, but it didn’t make me any happier.

FANNY - YOU'RE THE ONE

One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. And that is Fanny. They were one of the finest... rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary... they're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done. David Bowie
